My father had this same certificate hanging on his wall with all his other accomplishments and diplomas. He was a Navy Test Pilot. On this date he was flying a Navy fighter “chase plane” securing the area. For the longest time I never gave it much thought until now. Thank you for creating this site.

HI Valerie, thanks for your comment. Most of the people who worked at Enewetok died from leukemia, including my father. The photo was shot by the military, but appears in the National Geographic two times, and they might know the names of the men.

My grandfather was also at one of the Enewetok tests, probably the first one. He was an Army engineer and we have seen his picture on a documentary of the planning stages for the test. He died of a rare form of leukemia in 1959. Do you know of a place to find more photos of the tests? Also, with regards to the famous photo of the observers, do you know of any source which provides their names?

I am looking at my father’s certificates from ‘Headquarters Field Command Armed Forces Special Weapons Project – Sandia Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico’. These are for courses Craig H. Angel, USMC he completed in 1957 and 1958 when my family lived there. He was one of just 8 marines that was involved in this project. I have a letter from the Marine Adjunct General that states this to be true. I was not aware of any of this until after he died in 2008 and I requested a copy of his military file to work on the family genealogy. I am interested in finding out more about this project and the people that worked on it.

Hey Monick, With all the negativity thats snroruud us it is important to add your own positive energy. I tell people all the the time at you can choose what you take in, you do not have to accept everything. If you know it is negative in nature, block it so will not become apart of you. At the same time look for positive things to take in. This can be anything that put a smile on your face, a giggle in your belly, and action that makes you happy.
